Peer support is voluntary, self-directed, strength-based, mutual, and individualized. Lived experience varies from person to person. Beautiful Minds Recovery peer support specialists have their own lived experience in navigating addiction, mental illness, disability, grief and/or trauma.

Peer supporters can also provide resource navigation, distraction to help get through a tough time, a space to vent, help getting basic needs met, assistance building a self written crisis plan, or more.


Elizabeth Norwood-Theissen LLC (Kalispell) - Provides ACT/DUI and MIP classes as well as outpatient counseling. 406-253-0607

Big Sky Treatment (Kalispell) - provides treatment for substance use disorder (addiction) as well as mental health disorders through in-person Outpatient counseling or via telehealth services. Experiential therapy (such as equine and/or art therapy) also available.

Community Medical Services (Kalispell) - specializes in providing outpatient medication-assisted treatment (MAT), which may include methadone, buprenorphine, and suboxone combined with counseling and community-based services.

Gateway of Hope - (for men only) Provides faith-based addiction recovery housing, transportation and mentorship.

Ideal Option (Kalispell) - Outpatient and MOUD (Medications for Opioid Use Disorders) treatment/suboxone clinic. Locations in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Cut Bank, Glasgow, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell and Missoula.

Recovery Centers of Montana (Kalispell, Columbia Falls, Martin City) - Offers outpatient and intensive outpatient services, peer support as well as ACT/DUI and MIP classes. ACT/DUI, MIP, 1.0 Outpatient 2.1 Intensive Outpatient, Peer Support, transportation assistance, and female trauma support group.

Western Montana Mental Health Center - substance use treatment programs for adults, adolescents, and children living in Montana.

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs - Kalispell VA Clinic (Billings) - provides outpatient substance use treatment as well as Medical Assisted Therapy (MAT). An eight weeks-to-two years substance use treatment residential programs and peer support is available. VA-specific treatment programs can also be found through the suds locator at va.gov.

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch (Kalispell) - (serves youth only) Offers a variety of treatment and supports for youth, including community-based services and a residential treatment center located in Billings. YBGR has locations throughout Montana.

406 Recovery - substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment via telehealth. Available throughout Montana.

Organizations that provide 12-step group support

Alcoholics Anonymous - A fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to recovery from alcoholism. Check website for meetings in communities throughout Montana.

Narcotics Anonymous Montana - is a nonprofit fellowship of recovering addicts who meet regularly to help each other stay clean. This is a program of complete abstinence from all drugs. There is only one requirement for membership, the desire to stop using. Check website for statewide meeting times.
